Beautiful Days and Terrifying Bugs
Joel is on a work trip right now in Fresno, CA. He was home for the last few weeks and I think we all got too used to him being home all day and all night. It was amazing. Go figure, we like spending time with him. I guess that’s why I married him. When he’s gone, I try to fill my day and stay busy. That usually means catching up on the pile of laundry sitting in my laundry room, washing the dishes, mediating fights between my kids, changing diapers, blogging, working on children’s ministry stuff, prepping for baby Lucas, or hanging out with the boys. Today was beautiful and about 75 degrees. When you live in the Pacific Northwest, you quickly form a love for the cool evenings. It rains. A lot. So when it’s nice out, you change your whole day to be outside and enjoying it. That is just what we did. I turned the TV off and sent the kids outside. Then I discovered that Liam is apparently terrified of bugs. Every five minutes I would hear him scream and run inside the house. Leaving Levi outside to fend for himself of course. Assuming he got hurt, I’d ask what happened. A BUG MOM!!!! It’s spider season and they’re all out to destroy these perfect sunny days. The crazy thing is five seconds later he will carry a spider in the house and say it’s his friend… Then the only rational thing to do is scream at him to put it outside. Which usually causes him to get scared and throw it in the house. It crawls away and I quarantine that part of the house for a day. That’s normal, right...
